A few simple approaches on avoiding procrastination
There are many ways in which you can finish your work in time. There are delays due to our over confidence and other factors involved. A few simple approaches can stop you from delaying it. What could those be?
1. Break down your tasks into shorter tasks
If you are struggling with understanding the complexity of your tasks, then break them down into smaller pieces that can help you understand the different areas that you need to focus on. You will then have to prioritize them accordingly to get the desired outcome. This will increase your productivity.
There should now be a question in your head as to which one to prioritize and which one to keep on the lower level of the bucket. You need to understand the amount of time each task is going to take and do you have a definite idea about it? Is this achievable or do you need help on the same? The ones that require help should be kept on low priority and the ones that don't should be done, as you are aware of all the things that you really need to get the results out of it. Breaking will help you completely achieve all the tasks in the bubble you have.
2. Keep a checklist of your tasks
Another thing that can help you down in achieving your tasks is having a check list of all the daily, weekly, and monthly tasks. When you set up a task list you are aware of what tasks for the day you have achieved. Another thing that can help you down with the task list is the amount of time you are going to take to accomplish the task and also the description of the task so that you don't miss out on anything.
You can create boards for yourself and share them with your colleagues so that they know where you are now and what all tasks you have accomplished for the day. You will also have an idea of the upcoming tasks as well and there can be chances that you would be able to complete them on the same day as well once you master your work on a daily basis.
3. Eliminate redundancy and merge tasks when required
There can be times when you have been assigned multiple tasks where one task can be a starting point for a few more as well or it can be a mid or end point for the tasks. Now, what would happen sometimes is that you might repeat the same task multiple times and that would consume some of your productive time as well.
To eliminate redundancy in tasks, you need to analyze if you have any tasks that are a part of any other aligned tasks too. So, once you know you have them in place, it becomes a one stop place to find them and tick them off from the list of all the requirements in each one of them. This will not only save your time and effort but will let you work efficiently.
4. Reduce the number of distractions you face
There can be possibilities where your friends, relatives, or anyone might turn up to your place. There can also be situations where you have meetings to attend, a birthday to attend, or anything that relates to leaving the task. These are all nothing but distractions that can make you work less, and you'll start procrastinating all your tasks as you always feel that the above-mentioned scenarios are very important for you.
Work or any task you do should be given the same priority. Think if you would have achieved all the work on time, nobody would have stopped you from being in your relaxing zone. It is always in you, and you are the caretaker of your own mind. You need to train your mind to accomplish the given task at a particular pace and in the given time. Of course, you might have to face some problems or hurdles. But the best thing is that you will learn from it. Stay away from distractions and the people who bother you, you will surely fly.
5. Set a goal to accomplish a task
Time management is really important when it comes to accomplishing your work. We always need to maintain the time limit to accomplish a specific task in a given amount of time that we or our colleagues have assigned. Just say yourself - "I'll complete it by end of the day, I'll try to make sure I do it by sometime" these are multiple ways of telling yourself that you are procrastinating the work you have been assigned. You should know that success plays a very important role in your life.
We know that we can complete the task in a few minutes, or an hour but we still tend to procrastinate the same. Why do we do so? Is it an act of laziness? When you know that you can accomplish the task, then why drag it. Sometimes keep the goal of your task and achieve it and see how simplified your schedule gets because at the end of the day you will save a lot of your time rather than doing your job at the nick of the moment.
Stop procrastination the right way
There are multiple ways of how you can stop procrastinating your work and you can follow certain set of rules to stop it as well. Procrastination is sometimes that runs on our mind and the words we tell ourselves that comfort us. However, at the end of the day the amount of delay it can cause in your daily schedules is unacceptable. You will realize it and try to streamline yourself and it will be too late by then. So, work on avoiding it and have a free schedule during the end of your day.
